Chocxo Organic Almond Butter Cups

Saw these at Costco tonight and we thought we’d give them a try. First I’ll say they were pretty good and we enjoyed the taste of the almond butter. It’s nowhere near as sweet as a Reese’s PB Cup, which is nice! Our son even put his stamp of approval on it πŸ™‚ But I must say, I personally like milk chocolate for this particular treat. Which is not to say that I don’t like darker chocolate, because I do! We’ll continue to enjoy these chocolatey goodies for sure though and even buy them again.

Starbucks Iced Pumpkin Spice Latte

It’s still too early and hot for me to even contemplate having the warmer version of the beloved PSL. And I’ve had the frapp version, though good, the taste was too strong for me. Which is why I decided to try the iced latte version and it did. not. disappoint!! SOOO much better then the frapp to me, and I love frapps most of the time. So until the weather gets cooler, I’ll stick to the iced version.

Starbucks Triple Mocha Frappuccino

Last month we saw this frapp featured at Starbucks. Since we’re fans of the original Mocha Frappuccino, we thought we’d give this a try and indulge in the triple goodness!! It didn’t disappoint, and we enjoyed it. But I will admit, I was expecting a bit more mocha. Now, if you’re already a fan of the Mocha Frappuccino, you’ll enjoy this one too, and I recommend you give it a try.

Coconut Macaroon Nests

Was perusing Pinterest before Easter, and of course it was full of Easter treats recipes. One that stood out to me though, were these coconut macaroon nests. For the one and only reason…simplicity!! With only a few ingredients, it was pretty easy for me to decide to try this recipe out. It was the perfect choice to make while our son was having Daddy time playing. I was able to whip them up quickly and the nests were done before his bed time. Instead of melting white chocolate (we’re not much fans of it any way), I hacked it with cookie icing, to stick the eggs to the nests. Not as pretty, but I think I actually, almost nailed it visually LOL For me the recipe made 24, since it seems I put a bit more of the mixture in each mini cupcake holder πŸ˜‰ They were yummy, though on the much sweeter side. I may cut the sugar in half the next time I try, since the coconut flakes are already sweetened. All in all, it’s a super cute treat for Easter or for spring in general. Because who really needs a holiday as an excuse to eat – right?! The link for the recipe is below. Give it a try and let me know what you think of it!!

Mcdonald’s Mccafe Caramel Chocolate Coffee Iced FrappΓ©

When we saw a commercial for this frappe, it sounded super yummy, so we gave it a try a while back. If McDonald’s decides to keep it around permanently, it’ll be my new favourite!! Caramel and chocolate are another combo that just goes together perfectly. Now I won’t lie…it’s quite sweet!! So it’s definitely a treat. If caramel and chocolate are your favourite combo, try one before it disappears.

Peeps Delights Peppermint Bark Flavoured Marshmallow

So I’ve never been a huge fan of Peeps. Always found the flavours unappealing, for one reason or another. But I’ve kept on searching and trying to see if there ever would be a flavour I might like. Well, we were in the U.S. last month and I saw these in Target and thought we’d give it a try. We opened them up today and I can actually say that I LIKED these ones!! The chocolate dipped bottom added a nice touch to the peppermint flavoured marshmallow. Would buy this flavour again, if I come across them, or next time we’re in the U.S near the holidays.

Eva’s Original Chimneys

Above is my handsome hubby, showing off the Funfetti Party Cake cone, which he picked out for…what else?? His birthday treat!! πŸ™‚

We decided to finally give Eva’s Original Chimneys, at Square One Mall, a try for hubby’s birthday. We’d been avoiding this place for a while, until the loooong lineups faded away. And thought yesterday was a great reason, to give them a try. First off…this cone was definitely a two-person job!! WAY too much and too sweet for one person to eat. We thought that the embellished cones shouldn’t have sugar baked in them, because with all the sweet sauces on top, it’s just too much. Not to mention this cone had Nutella stuffed inside the cone, along with cake (just like the topper) AND a chocolate ball at the very bottom. Now I know it sounds like I’m complaining, which I guess I kind of am LOL But believe me when I say, we did enjoy the cone!! It would just have been that much better with the few things I mentioned. Next time, I think we’ll stick to plain ice cream in the sugared cone though LOL On that note, I do suggest you give one of these sweet cones a try…

Crock Pot Pumpkin Dump Cake

Found this recipe on Pinterest, plus it looked quick and easy to put together and cook in the Crock Pot. This was the first time I’d ever made a dump cake, and since I love pumpkin, it seemed like a perfect recipe to try out. I had no idea what to expect, but the flavour was good…though it could’ve used a bit more pumpkin spice for my liking. What I didn’t expect is how soft and moist it was. I didn’t mind it though, since it didn’t take away from the flavour. We added a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it was a perfect combo. Not sure I’ll make this particular recipe again, but will definitely try another Crock Pot dump cake recipe in the future.

Crock Pot Leftover Turkey Corn Chowder

Few weeks ago we Canucks celebrated Thanksgiving. And of course, after spending a wonderful day filled with great company and food, there’s the leftovers. So. many. leftovers. The majority of it being the turkey meat itself. So, I went to Google, to find a Crock Pot recipe I could use it up with. I came across the recipe below and thought I’d give it a try, as I had never made a chowder before. It was easy to put together, which is always important to me!! The sweetness of the corn and the spiciness of the red pepper flakes were a great combination, which myself, hubby and our son enjoyed. We’ll definitely make this again sometime. For those of you in the U.S., about to celebrate Thanksgiving day a few weeks from now – give this recipe a try to use up that leftover turkey you’ll have. I think you’ll enjoy too!!

Starbucks Zombie Frappuccino

Full disclosure, I have not tried this Instagram-worthy concoction. After reading the review below, I was contemplating it, but so far people I know haven’t liked it. One friend even said ‘I’ve heard it tastes like regret lol’…LOL . So, as cool as this frapp looks, I’ll be passing on it. But, take a read of the review below, and decide for yourselves. If you’re a big fan of SUPER sweet green apple flavour, then this may interest you!! It’s available until November 1st.
