Our Easter Sunday Dinner

We decided to make a pork roast this year, so we grabbed this lovely centre cut from Whole Foods. One of these years will attempt to roast lamb…just need to muster the courage!! LOL

To accompany the roast, we also roasted brussel sprouts and mushrooms, along with our go to garlic smashed potatoes to sop up the mushroom gravy…omnomnom!!

Turkish Sucuklu Tost (Turkish Grilled Sausage and Cheese Sandwich)

When I got up this morning, I was craving Turkish tost for breakfast. Traditionally it’s made with ‘Kasar’ cheese, which is perfect for melting, and gets all ooey gooey when toasted. Unfortunately, we can’t get Kasar cheese here, so the closest thing to it in North America – is Mozzarella. I had a, shredded cheese mixture of cheddar and mozzarella, so I used that this morning. I also added ‘Sucuk’, which is Turkish Sausage. This is another variation in the sandwich, and our very favourite. I sprinkled a little of the cheese on the bread (I used light rye), placed a few slices of sausage, and then another sprinkling of cheese on top. I then placed it on our griddler, set to high, and toasted it for 8-10mins. And voila, you have yourself a Turkish grilled cheese!! One of Turkey’s most popular, and beloved comfort foods…

Bacon Cheddar Scone from Whole Foods

My hubby and I were at Whole Foods recently, and I saw this scone and had to take one home. We were SO excited to give it a try, because let’s be honest, bacon makes EVERYTHING better right?! And it was good, though a bit too salty for our tastes, and it could’ve used bacon throughout…not just on top.

Cannoli From Lazar Bakery in Mississauga

There’s nothing like, having a nice cup of tea and sharing a cannoli, with the one you love!! Lazar Bakery, is a wonderful place, specializing in Portuguese/Italian groceries. They have a vast pastry and cake section, which is THE reason, why we go there only once in a while LOL This time around we got a large cannoli (our usual), as well as a strawberry and coconut tart, which we haven’t had yet. They also have, a great hot table in the back, with a lot of comfort food. If you’re ever in Mississauga, make sure to make a stop, at Lazar Bakery. You won’t be disappointed!!

Pineapple Flavoured Canada Dry AND Crush :o

My hubby and I came across both of these today, when we made a stop at a nearby convenience store…and my jaw dropped when I saw them. It’s obviously been a WHILE, since we’ve needed to go to a convenience store, because these flavour for either brand is new to us LOL Alas we didn’t buy either though, because the sugar content was obscenely high, and still would’ve been even if we shared. If ONLY they made these in Diet…I would totally give them a try!! Have any of you had the chance to try either of these out?! Would love to know, if you have, and what they tasted like…

Cheers Everyone 🙂

McDonald’s Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry

My hubby says we tried this McFlurry last year, but for the life of me, I don’t remember that LOL I’ll say this, it DOES taste like Cadbury Crème Egg flavoured ice cream, which is awesome!! If you like the chocolate, I’m sure you’ll like this McFlurry. Be warned though, it’s almost as sweet as the Cadbury Crème Eggs themselves, which is why we probably won’t have this flavour again…was just too sweet for us. Also, make sure you get the person behind the counter, to mix it REALLY well. The person at the location we bought it at, barely mixed it, and I had to mix it by hand some more before we shared it. Mind you that’s just a complaint against the employee, and not the McFlurry itself 🙂 I guess I’m just spoiled by how well DQ’s Blizzards are mixed together LOL This particular McFlurry is here for a limited time, and I wouldn’t expect it to be around, too far past Easter. So get it while you can!!

Crock Pot Butternut Squash & Chickpea Coconut Curry

I was looking up some more vegetarian recipes, when I came across this one. It sounded yummy, and simple to make. Not to mention it’s made in the Crock Pot…SOLD!! It turned out pretty good, though next time I’ll add red pepper flakes, from some heat. I’ll also add more curry then the recipe calls for, since we like more of it 🙂 Otherwise, it turned out great, and it’s been placed in the trusty recipe binder I have. Will make this again for sure.
