Last week Starbucks had a promo going on, where frappuccinos were half price from 3-5pm daily. I got all excited to give the Caramel Ribbon Crunch frapp a try, as it was new, and I’d never had it before. So, my hubby and I both got one, and I was sadly disappointed. Something about the caramel flavouring, just didn’t sit well on my palette. Mind you I am finicky when it comes to caramel, though recently introduced to salted caramel flavouring, and love the taste of it. Anyway, I ended up finishing it, but will never buy that particular flavour again. The next time they have this promo, I’ll give their Chocolate Cookie Crumble Frappuccino a go, as I do love chocolate!!

This month’s Krispy Kreme donut, is key lime flavoured!! So, we just HAD to try them, as it’s one of my favourite flavours 🙂 The first one we tried, was the Key Lime Cheesecake. This was the best out of the 2 by far. It had a key lime flavoured custard, on the inside, with cheesecake crust crumbles on top.

The second one we tried, was the Key Lime Cake donut. This one we didn’t like as much. I for one, barely tasted any key lime flavour from the dipped side, and the whipped cream did nothing for me. So, if I were get one again, it would definitely be the Key Lime Cheesecake donut. But, to each their own right? If you want to find out how good they are, make sure you stop by a Krispy Kreme location near you, before May is over!!

I found this recipe from a Facebook Page I follow called Lovefoodies. This looks easy to make, especially since it’ll be done in the Crockpot, and just plain nummy. I’m thinking I’ll give it a try very soon!!

So, my hubby and I were literally buying gas on Wednesday, when I looked across the street and saw this place. I was craving a Coconut bubble tea, so I told my hubby, I was going to walk over there and get us one. He would follow suit after finishing up at the gas station. For the life of me, I’m not sure why I didn’t take a photo of the store myself, but I found one on Yelp, to share with you…thanks Michelle S 🙂 It’s a VERY small store front. There’s literally 4 stools and 2 small tables, so you know most just take out their orders. Now, like I said, I went here with the notion of just buying bubble teas…I was wrong LOL Once I laid my eyes on the menu, and saw that they had banh mi sandwiches, I was sold!! My hubby and I had always heard of these Vietnamese sandwiches, but we’d never tried one. So, I decided this was what we were having for dinner. And at $2.95 a pop, it was MORE then reasonably priced 🙂

I decided on getting the assorted banh mi with pate sandwich, which was also the most popular. It consisted of an assortment of cold cuts, pork pate (all made in house!), lettuce, cilantro (mmm…), sliced hot pepper and pickled veggies. I gotta say, it was pretty good. The spicy hot pepper and pickled veggies were a good contrast to the creamy garlicky pate and cold cuts. We’ll definitely go back there again, as the prices are very reasonable and the bubble tea was good too, but I’ve yet to have a bad bubble tea!! So if you’re ever in Mississauga, you should drop in, and give them a try. They’re located at Dundas and Erindale…across from the Shell gas station.

How cute our these?! On top of my Hello Kitty obsession, I now have a cute owl obsession too…LOVE!!

A few nights ago, we had ordered pizza, because hey…a girl needs to feed her pizza craving!! And what goes better with pizza, then beer, am I right?! 😀 While at the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario), we saw this Nickel Brook Maple Porter. Since the Pumpkin beer we had in the fall was pretty yummy, I was expecting the same from this one. Not so much 😦 First off, a porter for me, is too strong. And there was no trace of maple flavour. I was sad. And lesson learned. But, onward and upward with our quest to find yummy tasting flavoured beers!!

Over the weekend, we were at Vaughan Mills Mall, and there’s a cupcake shop there called We Bake In Heels. They first started out with a very posh looking stall in the middle of the walkway, but since then, have moved up to a store front. They sell a variety of cupcakes there, but you can also have cakes designed for any occasion. The poor girl behind the counter has to wear heels while she works, but she did look fabulous, and had a stool to sit at when no one was looking!!

They had a choice of Cookies’n’Cream, Classic Vanilla, Classic Chocolate, Ferrero and Red Velvet. Although the Red Velvet was scrumptious looking, we…well…mostly me…decided on trying the Ferrero cupcake this time around. It’s a dark chocolate cupcake, with a Nutella filling, chocolate buttercream and sprinkled with crushed hazelnuts. The Nutella filling alone, was what drew me to this particular cupcake. And it didn’t disappoint!! It was fresh, chocolatey, and the Nutella…well…omnomnom!! The only downside is the price. Each cupcake is $3.75, which to me is pricey, but at the same time makes it a treat. So, if you’re ever at Vaughan Mills, give them a try!!

And with the blessings of Easter, comes a day filled with yummy food – am I right?! 😀 Nothing says Easter like a simple ham dinner, and so we had just that!! With smashed potatoes made, with Philly Garlic and Herb cooking cream, and a bit of milk. I do need to make smashed potatoes with Boursin cheese, as I’ve heard rave reviews about it. Next time!! We also had a nummy side of seasoned roasted broccoli, which roasts in 15mins at 450 degrees.

Of course, no Easter dinner is complete without dessert!! And I decided to make a Chocolate Fudge cake with chocolate frosting, decorated with Cadbury Mini Eggs 🙂 Now, I know it’s easy to make a cake from scratch, but I did have this Betty Crocker cake mix that was screaming to be made. And I always buy the frosting for the sheer convenience, and ease of use. Put these ingredients all together and voila!!

So, yesterday my hubby and I were at a Toronto Rock Lacrosse game. It was the first time I’d ever been to one, and I do believe I’m a fan now!! Very fast paced, and exciting sport 🙂

Anyway!! My hubby and I went to grab something to eat, before the game began, and we came across one of the hot dog vendors. This vendor didn’t just have your garden variety plain Nathan’s hot dog. They had a menu of gourmet hot dogs, with a variety of toppings. From pulled pork to mac’n’cheese. After reading through the menu, we decided to try the mac’n’cheese, since we had seen it on TV before and thought it would be good. It consisted of a Nathan’s hot dog, mac’n’cheese, shredded cheese on top and spicy ketchup to finish it off. To be honest…it was OK. What’s funny is, as a kid I would have mac’n’cheese with hot dogs cut up, and loved it!! I guess I’ve out grown it, because it just didn’t have the same feeling for me when I ate it. Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t give it a try, because you may very well love it. It’s just not something I’ll have again, but that’s just me!!
