Purdy’s Fall Chocolates…Mmm…Pumpkin!!

Last week, while passing by our local Purdy’s store, I saw that they had their fall chocolates out 😀 Who am I to pass up Pumpkin anything, so we grabbed a Pumpkin Truffle, Pumpkin Caramel and a Lemon Cream just to change things up a little 😉 They were all yummy too!! The Pumpkin ones had a great pumpkin spice taste to them and the Lemon had tiny pieces of rind that made it tangy…omnomnom!! Get your own chocolates while they’re in season…especially if you’re a Pumpkin Spice flavour lover like myself!!

Crock Pot Cabbage Roll Casserole

A couple week’s back, I was looking for a new Crock Pot recipe. I was actually in the mood for the flavours of cabbage rolls, but didn’t want to deal with having to make cabbage rolls…so much work!! Then I found this recipe from Save with Pennies. It was pretty simple to put together and it tasted exactly like cabbage rolls minus all the work!! I will DEFINITELY be making this recipe again 🙂 There’s also a non-Crock Pot version for those of you who don’t have one or don’t want to use it. It’s not the prettiest dishes, but who cares when it tastes good – right?!

Beyti Kebab in Mississauga

So, we checked out this place for the first time a month or so ago, and the photos are from that particular visit 🙂 It’s a very small place, run by a very friendly Turkish couple. Their menu isn’t large, but it doesn’t have to be either. We ordered the lamb pide, as well as chicken doner (shawarma) but I couldn’t get a good photo of it, so I didn’t want to add it LOL But believe me when I say, it was yummy!! As well as the lamb pide. If you like Turkish cuisine and appreciate friendly service, I would suggest you give Beyti Kebab a visit. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!! 🙂

The Churro Ice Cream Sandwich…CHURRO!!

Being I’m from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), I had never heard of or seen this wondrous, and I’m very sure – scrumptious creation!! I found out it was created at a place called Churro Borough in LA. So, unless some place here in Toronto makes this soon, my hubby and I will have to find this place one day, when we make our way over to LA!! Until then, I’m going to just leave this here, for all of us to enjoy virtually…

Creamy Lime Squares

A friend of mine posted a list of St. Patrick’s Day recipes, and when I came across these squares I had to try them out. And let me tell you, they DO NOT disappoint, in the tart lime flavour department…omnomnom!! They were super easy to make, as it was just an adaptation, from a lemon square recipe. And it only took about an hour, from start to finish. I didn’t dust the top with icing sugar, but you can definitely go that route for guests, if you decide to try this recipe out 🙂

Free Small Ice Cream Cone from Dairy Queen – March 16, 2015

Yesterday all Dairy Queens, were giving out free small ice cream cones, as part of their 75th anniversary celebrations. So, my hubby and I grabbed one each for dessert, and paid the extra bit for chocolate dipping it…omnomnom!! Anyone else take advantage of the free cone yesterday??

No-Bake Peanut Butter Bars

I was in the mood for PB and chocolate the other day, so I fired up the interweebs to look for a recipe. That’s where, I came across this lovely no-bake one, and knew I just had to try it. The notes in the recipe states ‘Reese’s Who?’. Indeed!! 😉 It definitely reminds me of a Reese’s PB cup, and even better, it tastes less sweet then one. I always find, that by the end of eating, one of those cups, the sweetness gets to me. These devilishly scrumptious squares, don’t affect me the same way, which I very much enjoy 🙂 If you’re like me, then I believe you’ll enjoy this recipe as well!! Instead of a 13×9 pan, I made these in a 9×9 pan instead, as I thought they’d be too thin spread onto a longer pan. I cut the chilled square into 36 smaller squares, which are the perfect serving size for us. If you end up trying this recipe for yourself, and do make it in a 13×9 pan, I’d love to hear how it turned out!! The recipe link is below, if you’d like, to give it a try…

Jalapeno Popper Roll Ups and Creamy Apple Dessert

As part of our Super Bowl Sunday spread, I decided to make something new, to see how it tastes. I perused the interweebs, and found this recipe, that caught my eye. My hubby and I are fans of Jalapeno Poppers, so we thought we’d give this one a go. It’s a definitely a twist on the original, but was easy to make, and not bad. The recipe says it makes 16 servings, but I have at least another batch worth, of the filling left. So for us, it actually makes twice as much, which we’ll make at another time. Definitely great for a crowd though, since it makes so much!!

I was also looking to make a new dessert, so when I came across this Creamy Apple Dessert recipe, I wanted to give it a try!! It was definitely a hit with us, and even my parents. It tastes like an apple cheesecake, so if you’re into that combo, you’ll like it too. This recipe would be even better with cherry pie filling, which is what I’ll be trying next time for sure!! I may actually take the time, to make the filling from scratch, to lessen the sugar content. Will be sure to make this one again soon.
