Merry Christmas Everyone!!๐ŸŽ„

Hope you all had a wonderful day spent with family and friends yesterday!! Our Christmas Day was spent with family opening presents, playing and watching classic Christmas specials and movies โ˜บ๏ธ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…

We had spent Christmas Eve making a treat, we’ll be giving away to family and friends, we still have to see as part of their gifts. I chose to make these holiday pretzel m&m kiss treats this year, because they were super easy and our 3 year old son could help out for some of them โ˜บ๐Ÿฅจ๐Ÿซ

The most tedious part was taking off the wrapping for the Hershey Kisses. This time I made them according to the recipe with milk chocolate kisses, but next time I’ll use the candy cane kisses for the festive peppermint flavour๐ŸŽ„We’ve all enjoyed the combination of salty pretzel with sweet chocolate and these are much easier then making dipped pretzels. I will definitely make these again! โœ”๏ธ

Crockpot Chocolate Clusters

Happy 2018 Everyone!! Hope you all enjoyed the holidays as much as we did ๐Ÿ™‚

Before the holidays, I was looking through Pinterest for a baking recipe, when I kept coming across these clusters. The face that they were made in the Crockpot was a huge plus, since I’m all about using mine!! The recipe I used was a 3-ingredient one consisting of almonds, chocolate chips and sea salt. The first time I made it was to try it out and made the original recipe. I did use dark chocolate instead of milk, as we like it better. We enjoyed that batch as well as gave some away. So when I decided to make it as part of our holiday gifts, I did add a 1/2 cup of dried cranberries to the recipe. We enjoyed this batch as well and thought the cranberries were a nice addition to it. I do think this year I’ll make them with almonds, another nut (either cashew or peanut), milk chocolate and cranberries – see how that turns out ๐Ÿ™‚

crockpot-roast

The holidays are always a crazy time, trying to find the perfect gifts, decorating and baking. This year was a blur for us as we had some flooding issues, and didn’t get back into our condo until a few days before Christmas. But, at least we were home for the holidays and that’s all that matters!! Speaking of which, I decided to make a roast for Christmas Day in our Crock Pot. It was great, as it cooked while we opened presents and spent the day watching Christmas shows with our son. I had to cook it on HIGH for 4 hours, since we got a late start on it, but it turned out great!! The photo above is showing you the remnants of leftovers, as I forgot to take a photo before we ate LOL Recipe was super simple…placed the 3lb roast in the middle and placed the carrots, celery, onions and potatoes around it. If you have your own spice blend, then add it with beef broth to the pot. I added a package of Club House’s wet pot roast spice blend, then set the Crock Pot and let it do it’s thing. Will definitely make pot roast this way again!!

Egg Nog Cookies

We made these for Christmas a few year’s back, and loved them then, but hadn’t made them since. I’ve been trying out new recipes since then, but decided to make these again today. They’re super easy, and taste just like egg nog!! The holidays are nothing without egg nog right?! So why not in a cookie!! If you like egg nog, then definitely give this cookie a try, I’m sure you’ll like it as much as we do ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t find the exact recipe I have, but this one is the closest I found online…

Peppermint Coconut Cocoa Balls

We madeย these last Christmas, and we loved them!! Last year, we made them right around Christmas, but this year, we didn’t get to making them until this past Monday. The original recipe calls for rum, but we’re not a fan, so I tried peppermint and they’re so yummy!! This recipe is on our list of holiday recipes, and if you give it a try, it may just get onto yours too ๐Ÿ™‚

Spiked Oreo Strawberry Santas

Wow…I can’t believe it’s been over a month since I last posted!! I hadn’t realized it had been that long LOL Time sure does fly doesn’t it?! Hope all my U.S. readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving, a couple of weeks back, and that you got to enjoy good food and good company ๐Ÿ™‚ But now the holidays are in full swing, so to apologize for the lapse in posting, here’s some adorable Oreo Strawberry Santas!! Of course, they can be made without booze, for the little ones ๐Ÿ™‚ But apparently, these are AMAZING with, and easy to whip up to boot. Sweet and Spicy Roasted Almonds!!

During the holidays, I love to roast almonds. I usually make a savoury version, but this year I really wanted to try something sweeter. When I came across this recipe I knew I had to try it. I followed the recipe to a ‘T’ up until the spice choice. The recipe calls for Chili Powder, but I decided to use Cayenne Pepper instead. It turned out really good, with a bit of a kick, and was quick to prepare. I stirred it every 20mins for about 40-45mins, because in my oven, they were ready by then.ย For next time though, I’ll use both Chili powder and Cayenne Pepper, to see if it gives it an extra kick ๐Ÿ˜€ If you like the combo of sweet and spicy, I’d recommend you give this recipe a try!!

Holiday Baking Part II

So…since the Pumpkin Cream Cheese bars were less then stellar, taste wise for us, I continued on the hunt for another bar recipe!! I came across this Chewy Peanut Butter Brownie recipe, and thought…how can you go wrong with peanut butter right? Never!! These were ridiculously delicious. Super peanut buttery flavour (mind you I doubled the peanut butter measurement :D). To describe it best, it tasted like a brownie shaped chewy peanut butter cookie. OMG doesn’t even cover it.ย Totally omnomnom-worthy!! If you love PB as much as we do, you’ll definitely love this recipe. It’s easy to make and bakes in about 30mins. This one’s definitely a keeper,ย for a quick sweet treat any time of year, and may be added to my holiday baking this year!!
