Cannoli From Lazar Bakery in Mississauga

There’s nothing like, having a nice cup of tea and sharing a cannoli, with the one you love!! Lazar Bakery, is a wonderful place, specializing in Portuguese/Italian groceries. They have a vast pastry and cake section, which is THE reason, why we go there only once in a while LOL This time around we got a large cannoli (our usual), as well as a strawberry and coconut tart, which we haven’t had yet. They also have, a great hot table in the back, with a lot of comfort food. If you’re ever in Mississauga, make sure to make a stop, at Lazar Bakery. You won’t be disappointed!!

McDonald’s Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry

My hubby says we tried this McFlurry last year, but for the life of me, I don’t remember that LOL I’ll say this, it DOES taste like Cadbury Crème Egg flavoured ice cream, which is awesome!! If you like the chocolate, I’m sure you’ll like this McFlurry. Be warned though, it’s almost as sweet as the Cadbury Crème Eggs themselves, which is why we probably won’t have this flavour again…was just too sweet for us. Also, make sure you get the person behind the counter, to mix it REALLY well. The person at the location we bought it at, barely mixed it, and I had to mix it by hand some more before we shared it. Mind you that’s just a complaint against the employee, and not the McFlurry itself 🙂 I guess I’m just spoiled by how well DQ’s Blizzards are mixed together LOL This particular McFlurry is here for a limited time, and I wouldn’t expect it to be around, too far past Easter. So get it while you can!!

Crock Pot Butternut Squash & Chickpea Coconut Curry

I was looking up some more vegetarian recipes, when I came across this one. It sounded yummy, and simple to make. Not to mention it’s made in the Crock Pot…SOLD!! It turned out pretty good, though next time I’ll add red pepper flakes, from some heat. I’ll also add more curry then the recipe calls for, since we like more of it 🙂 Otherwise, it turned out great, and it’s been placed in the trusty recipe binder I have. Will make this again for sure.

Seafood Chowder Dinner At My Parents’ House…YUM!!

This past Saturday, we were over at my parents’ house for dinner. They had told us one thing, but when we got there, it looked like my Dad had another idea LOL But that’s ok, because it was a very yummy seafood chowder. He took the basic idea of it, from the recipe below, but added salmon to it as well. Ours was also not as creamy, as the recipe, but it was still very yummy!! It was so good, it inspired us to make our own in the near future 🙂 It’s a decent recipe to work from, and I would recommend using it, if you’re a first timer to making seafood chowder.

Crock Pot Corned Beef Brisket with Carrots, Onions and Garlic Smashed Potatoes

The brisket turned out fork tender, and the onions and carrots were cooked just enough. Add garlic smashed potatoes, and it made for a wonderful dinner!! Plus washing it down, with some yummy green Mill St. Organic beer, rounded out the entire meal nicely 😉

Pistachio St. Patrick’s Day Bread

Holy green colour Batman!! LOL Found this recipe last year, but never got around, to making it until today. With it’s green colour, it’s perfect for this holiday 🙂 A super simple recipe using box cake mix, pistachio pudding mix a few other ingredients, and 40-45mins in the oven will produce a pretty good tasting bread. I opted to bake it in the bundt pan, though the recipe says to use bread pans.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Everyone!!

Nothing says Irish, like some good ol’ fashioned corned beef, am I right?! This year we forgot to grab, a brisket in time to pickle it ourselves, so we bought a pre-seasoned one. We bought Rachel’s brand (if you’ve heard of it), and it’s looking great so far, in the Crock Pot. We’re cooking it on low for 8 hours, and added the onions and carrots at the 4 hour mark. I know cabbage is traditional, but we just aren’t feeling it this year. Being able to set this-forget it, and come back to a fully cooked meal in hours, is a wonderful thing…especially when beer will be involved later tonight 😉

Krispy Kreme’s Lotta Latte Donuts!!

So, my hubby and I finally tried out the coffee flavoured donuts, at Krispy Kreme. And they were good!! Both of them, were nummy in their own right, with coffee flavoured cream on top of the Caramel Coffee Kreme donut, and the mocha flavoured cream inside the Mocha Kreme donut. We’ll definitely try these again, the next time they come around. If you’re a big Krispy Kreme fan, give them a try yourself, before they’re gone!!
