LOVE LOVE LOVE…RAWR!! 😀

We had decided to not cook at home, and take advantage of another one, of our many deal vouchers we have 🙂 So we chose to go to Jeanie’s, as it’s a place we’ve always passed by, and wondered what it was like.

It happened to be $4 margarita and Corona day, so my hubby and I gave in and ordered one 🙂 The margarita was a bit too sweet for me, so I ended up only drinking half of it.

After deliberating, for what seemed like forever, we finally decided to just get some apps for dinner. It’s amazing how little you get for $30 these days, but we decided on 2lbs of wings and potato skins to share. Now, bar food is bar food, so I can’t say much about either. Other then the fact that the wings were cooked and sauced well, we chose half medium and half sweet chili. The potato skins were just plain nummy because they were also fried…omnomnom. More so then anything, the company and conversation were the stars of the evening, as the bar was somewhat quiet – other then the mini poker tourney going on in the back. I can’t say anything, about the rest of the menu, as we didn’t try any of the entrees or burgers. But if you just want, good ol’ bar food with your beverage, Jeanie’s does the trick 🙂

Peaches. How could you possibly not love the peach? They’re juicy and super sweet, and hold up really well to baking – a gem of a fruit if you ask me!!

Now, the peach crisp recipe I used came with instructions, on how to easily peel the peaches. Since my hubby and I love the skin, and I’m not into having to peel them anyway, I sliced up and cooked them down like I did with the compote. After that, I placed them into the baking dish and covered them with the crumble, before placing it into the oven 🙂

After about 30mins, in a 350 degree oven, the crisp was done!! Don’t mind the leakage 😉 Some of the nummy juices crept through the topping while baking LOL

It turned out great!! By no fault of the recipes I used (I used 2), the only thing I’ll change next time is cutting the amount of orange juice, and honey used to cook down the peach slices by half. That’s it. Other then that, the crisp turned out great!! I’ll definitely be adding this one to my recipe binder for the future 🙂

After spending the day, in picturesque Port Perry, we were hungry!!

We had noticed a place called Haugen’s Chicken & Ribs Barbeque, on our way to Port Perry, so we decided to go back the way we came to check it out. When we got there, we noticed a sign that said Haugen’s was featured on The Food Network’s ‘You Gotta Eat Here’. My hubby and I looked at each other and chuckled, because in the car, we were saying this place sounded familiar LOL

The menu wasn’t very big…BONUS. But, we were there for their specialty anyway, which is roasted chicken and ribs. The ribs fell off the bone and the sauce was a good combination of sweet and savoury. The chicken was roasted perfectly, and not as salty as Swiss Chalet, which was a bonus for me. You also got an abundance of fresh cut fries, and a dipping sauce that was their own tomato sauce concoction. The waitress told us, people either love or hate the dipping sauce. It just wasn’t for us, so we didn’t use it. If they offered a secondary dipping option similar to Swiss Chalet’s, that would be great, but alas they do not. All in all it was a very filling meal which gave us leftovers, and if we’re ever in the area again, we’d go back 🙂
