Aroma Espresso Bar Ice Aroma

image

This past week, we decided to finally try a beverage at Aroma Espresso Bar, located in our local mall. We chose to try the Ice Aroma, made with espresso, milk chocolate and milk…yum. This is the frozen version of their Aroma Coffee. We really enjoyed the creamy milk chocolate taste, and though it’s a bit pricey at over $4.50 for this regular size, we’d definitely have it again sometime. If you have an Aroma Espresso Bar in your area, I’d recommend you give it a try yourself.

Indigo Kitchen Peppermint Chocolate Chip Brownie Mix

We had bought this a long time ago AFTER Christmas on sale from Chapter’s LOL I noticed the Best Before date was coming up, so we made them yesterday. Being that it’s a mix, it was super simple to make by adding the eggs, oil and some water. After baking for 30mins the peppermint crumbles was added to the top and cooled off. We got 16 squares out of the 8×8 pan used, and I was excited to try a piece before putting them away. But, unfortunately we weren’t very impressed. I mean, it tasted like a brownie, but I was hoping it would taste more pepperminty then it was. I think if we added peppermint oil to the batter, it would be MUCH better, but that’s just us!! Anyway we won’t buy these again, but at least we have some brownies for dessert LOL

Beyti Kebab in Mississauga

So, we checked out this place for the first time a month or so ago, and the photos are from that particular visit 🙂 It’s a very small place, run by a very friendly Turkish couple. Their menu isn’t large, but it doesn’t have to be either. We ordered the lamb pide, as well as chicken doner (shawarma) but I couldn’t get a good photo of it, so I didn’t want to add it LOL But believe me when I say, it was yummy!! As well as the lamb pide. If you like Turkish cuisine and appreciate friendly service, I would suggest you give Beyti Kebab a visit. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!! 🙂

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

How cute are these Leprechaun Hat and 3-Leaf Clover cupcakes?? Hope you all had/are still having a great St. Patty’s Day!! The hubby and I opted to stay home, as going out can get expensive, not to mention WAY too busy…amirite?? We had made corned beef brisket over night yesterday, so we had that for dinner, along with some Irish-style beer…yum!!

I say Irish-style, because we tried out a micro brewed beer, from a brewery here in Ontario (Canada) called Beau’s. I’ve got to say, that I loved it. It may be because it was a red ale, and had some sweet notes to it. We’ll definitely try it again!!

Cheers Everyone 🙂

The Stooges Family Restaurant – August 3, 2014

(photo courtesy of Trevor G. on Yelp – thanks!!)

My hubby and I met my parents, down in Port Credit, this past Sunday evening. We were hungry, so we decided to try out The Stooges Family Restaurant, located right behind the Starbucks. We had previously eaten at the restaurant, when it was called Helen’s, and always enjoyed their Fish & Chips. So when we saw that The Stooges had Fish & Chips on their menu, we decided to give it a try. Good thing I asked the wait-staff, how big the portions were, because when she said it was pretty big – my hubby and I decided to share.

Glad we did too!! We each got a decent sized piece of Halibut, with  fries and a mound of coleslaw to share. The coating around the fish was thin, light and crisp. Can’t go wrong with fries, and the oil/vinegar coleslaw was great too…but I’m partial to oil/vinegar coleslaw over creamy. My Dad got the Fish & Chips as well,  and took half of it home. My Mom got the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, and took half of it home well. The prices are reasonable for the portions you get as well. Our Fish & Chips were $16 and my Mom’s choice was either $11 or $14 (can’t remember LOL). If you’re ever in the Port Credit area, give them a try, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

The Guilty Dog Coffee House – June 22, 2014

My hubby and I finally paid a visit to this coffee house, after months and months of passing it by, and wanting to check it out. It’s a cozy little place, with a well-versed barista at the ready, to make whatever you like.

We decided to have iced coffee, so he made us iced Americanos, since they were out of drip coffee for that day. We also got a piece of iced lemon pound cake to share…one of many baked goodies, brought in by a local baker in the area. The Americanos were freshly crafted, and the pound cake had just the right amount of lemon for us. Most times we do take-out, but on this day, we chose to enjoy our drink and cake, at one of the nearby tables. The Guilty Dog, has a nice atmosphere, and we’ll definitely stop by again soon. If you’re ever in the Port Credit area, you should give them a try. They’re located in the plaza just west of Port Credit Harbour, right after the Royal Bank. For a bit more info, you can peruse their page below, as they don’t have a dedicated website.

Czehoski – November 2, 2013

(photo thanks to On The Fourth Floor blog)

Thanks to a Buytopia voucher, my hubby and I tried out Czehoski. Every time we’d pass by the weathered sign of this once butcher shop, we’ve wanted to check it out. So, the second I saw there was a deal for this place, I jumped on it!!

We started off with the Blue Crab Cakes and Warm Olives. The crab cakes were great!! They were all crab meat, with a very thin, crisp coating. The garlic aioli I wasn’t fond of, but the chili aioli was nice and spicy!! The olives were also good, and you get a LOT. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the fennel, but everything else in the warm olives were yummy 🙂

Then we both decided on the Mac’n’Cheese, consisting of, cheddar stout rarebit sauce and Ontario curds. This was a seriously awesome mac’n’cheese. The creaminess of the cheddar, was only slightly upstaged, by the ooey gooey cheese curds that was at the bottom of the bowl. So, every time you took a forkful, you’d get a bit of the cheesy curd goodness!! It was also a very good portion, that you could cut in half, but when it’s this yummy – we couldn’t help ourselves and finished it all.

We will definitely pay Czehoski’s a visit again, as the prices were ok, for the portions you get. There’s a lot of other dishes we’d like to try, such as the Pulled Pork Poutine, Nachos and Pulled Pork Mac’n’Cheese!! So, if you’re ever in the Trinity-Bellwoods area, definitely give them a try – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed…

The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro – Sept 28, 2013

Last weekend we were passing through Barrie, and were looking for some place to stop for lunch, when we came across The Works. We’ve actually seen them at other locations, and always said we should try it out. So, we decided stop in, and give’er a go 🙂

After going through the page long list of burgers…I decided on the Crappy Tire, consisting of a pineapple ring, sweet and spicy sauce and brie cheese. My hubby chose the Jamaican Jerk burger, consisting of jerk spices, sweet green chilies, Monterey Jack cheese and sliced tomato. I liked my burger. I thought the sweetness from the pineapple and sauce went well with the brie cheese. But it could’ve been better. Next time I’ll add hot peppers to it, which should really kick it up a notch!! My hubby’s burger was really good. It was nice and spicy, and I would definitely put that on our try again list, from there for sure!! My absolute favourite part though was, the beverages, were served in measuring cups LOL

If you’re a burger connoisseur, I’d recommend, you check this place out. They have many choices, so there’s something for everyone. Even if you’re REALLY picky, you can just build your own burger, and go from there!!

I Went To Philly – December 1, 2012

For our next voucher dining adventure, my hubby and I went to a placed called I Went To Philly. It’s a small place, with a few tables to eat in, and the now mandatory tv with CP24 on. It is a wee bit expensive though, with the most expensive sandwich in the $8 range, paired with fries you’d be looking at $13-$16 total.

Our voucher included 2 classic Philly cheese steaks with ‘whiz’ (we added onions and peppers to it), 2 hand cut fries and 2 cans of pop. What we got were two HUGE, beautiful white buns, filled with the steaming hot goodness of thinly shaved steak and cheese smothered on top. The steak was like butter, and paired with the cheese, it was so addicting – I ate the entire sandwich…omnomnom!! The fresh cut fries were just that…what more can you say…you can’t go wrong with fresh cut fries 🙂 I ended up leaving most of the fries, behind though, when I opted to eat the gargantuan meatwich. My hubby and I both agree, that for our health, we’re so very happy that they are located downtown!! We’ll definitely go back again, though probably SHARE a side of fries next time LOL If you’re ever near the Yonge and College area, and in the mood for a pretty good Philly cheese steak, you should check them out yourselves.

Bon Appetit Everyone!! 🙂
